Towards sustainability

Nature provides us with resources, clean water and shelter, heats our houses and inspires us – and we must conserve it. Snæfellsness stories are tangible in landscape and buildings, and we have to remember that stories don‘t only belong in the past, but also the future. We‘re still writing.

Nature provides us with resources, clean water and shelter, heats our houses and inspires us – and we must conserve it. Snæfellsness stories are tangible in landscape and buildings, and we have to remember that stories don‘t only belong in the past, but also the future. We‘re still writing.

Snæfellsnes municipalities have pulled together their strenghts to protect nature, society and culture and write new stories with sustainability at the forefront. We want to be able to look back and be proud of what we‘ve done for our environment and our role in fighting against the climate crisis.

On Snæfellsnes you will find pathways to attractive spots that protect the environment and ensure guests safety, you will find less trash on the coastline and in land because we have improved our waste management and organize regular coastal clean-ups, you will find more opportunities to use other transportation than vehicles and you will find that in Snæfellsnes we choose local ingredients and foods.

Snæfellsnes receives EarthCheck destination certification annually which underlines that we want to improve our performance for environment and society. We want to be able to tell stories that don‘t leave footprints that stand in the way of future generations.
